Natalie & Dallas: Friday I Do's
Posted : 04/09/2010 05:17:08

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending the wedding of Natalie and Dallas.  I already knew this couple were going to be lovely to work with, so it was no suprise that Matt and I had a great day with them.  Who is Matt? I hear you say... As the sensational Robyn is about to take some time out with the birth of their second child and then an overseas trip to see family at the end of the year, Sam and I had to enlist the help of some more second shooters, so we have a handful of people you may hear mentioned here and there who are going to help Sam and I keep our sanity this wedding season!

Back to the bride and groom.  This wedding was quite small and intimate and they were surrounded by the people who love them.  Weddings like this are always such a joy to be apart of.

After (safely) getting the swift up Natalie's Mum's driveway (it's a little steep and crazy - Natalie's pre-warning words to me) we got to see the stunning Natalie.

Photobucket

There are always a zillion pre-wedding shots and they are all usually as gorgeous as the next - my favourite time to photograph the bride.  Anyway, it may seem odd to choose a shot that didn't show off the dress, the flowers or the amazing feathers that Natalie wore... but I loved this one of her.  She was beaming on the day, and this pic I think shows nothing but the sincere happiness she must have been feeling (DONT worry... many pics ahead with all the bridal bits in it!)

Photobucket

And then, I got Natalie on the stairs, got another bunch of stunning shots - it's always so hard to choose what to share but I decided on this one

Photobucket

Natalie with her Mum and Dad walking to her future.

Photobucket

The Rings.  I liked this one, the way Natalie is holding Dallas's hand in both of hers.

Photobucket

Right after the ceremony, the bubble guns were out.... Well, those little suckers produce bubbles like you have never seen before.  There is so shortage of bubble pics.  I did like this candid one of Natalie

Photobucket

I love moments such as this... and I also love light like this.

Photobucket

Dallas.  I loved the detail and planning that went into this wedding.  The peacock feather and the colours.. really adore a wedding that has unique and individual style injected into the entire day.  I think it makes it that little bit more special.

Photobucket

The bridal party: Jake, Dallas, Natalie and Rachael. It's pretty clear to see, but I will point it out anyway, Jake and Dallas: Brothers.  Natalie & Rachael: Sisters. These guys really had a fun time!

Photobucket

Completely adore Natalie for being a bride that was just there to have fun with it all.  I love this shot.. although Natalie looks super serious, they were playing!!

Photobucket

A stroll on the beach in that warm afternoon light always looks gorgeous

Photobucket

And after the sun fell down below the horizon, we continued on in the gorgeous light that follows.

The reception which was held in the Port Curtis room at Rydges, was really quite stunning.  Here are few details from the night that I personally adored

Thank you again Natalie & Dallas and to all your lovely family also.  It was a pleasure.  I hope you have liked the quick sneak peak here!

Selena & Ian: I do's
Posted : 29/08/2010 03:42:23

Wedding 2 that I attended on Saturday was that of the very gorgeous Selena and husband to be, Ian.  After photographing them for their E-Shoot, I was really excited for the wedding day.  I knew that Selena was going to look stunning, and, both Selena and Ian were such outgoing and relaxed people, I knew my time with them would be wonderful.

So I stopped in to Selena's pre-wedding, for some shots as usual.  Pre-Wedding Bridal photography is one of my favourite things to photograph. I love being there to see the emotions, see the craziness happening before the composed moment of walking down the aisle! And being able to give brides a record of those last few unmarried moments is really quite special.

And here is Selena.  I love Selena's look! She was having a great time with her family and bridesmaids prior to the ceremony, I dont think I detected even an ounce of nerves from her.

kellie blinco photography,wedding photography,gladstone QLD

Selena and Ian had two littles, Mia & Rueban (I apologise if I have mispelt names!!!)  Here is Rueban with The Ring Bear(er). What a cutie!

kellie blinco photography,wedding photography,gladstone QLD

This shot is of Selena and her Dad inside the Chev they used for the wedding.  Now, anyone that knows me, knows Im easliy inspired whenever there are some gorgeous old school muscle cars involved. Particularly Chevy and Holdens.

At this point, I left Selena to head over to the Church with the idea of having 20 minutes to get shots of Ian and the boys in waiting.  Well Ian.. you my firend win the award for latest Groom ever!!  Seriously my heart was in my mouth with panic as to where on earth was Ian and Crew - (I am sure I was not the only one) but he cut it close and arrived 2 minutes before Selena did!  PHEW!  Every wedding there is some unplanned antic that occurs that you guys will laugh about for the rest of your lives... I'd say that's your story right there.

The first kiss as husband and wife.

Have a quick flick through my images today to choose a few out for the blog, I couldn't go past this candid of Selena. I often find, the less complicated the better - and that's pretty much my style of shooting.  I personally just really like this moment, when we all arrived at the Marina.

kellie blinco photography,wedding photography,gladstone QLD

I got this shot during a group shot of Ian, Selena and the little ones of the bridal party.  Mia started playing with Selena's veil.  Selena let her, and it resulted in this shot (It also resulted in the veil falling out, but well worth it!)

It reminded me of little girls and how they look at brides - complete admiration for the fairytale of the wedding day.

kellie blinco photography,wedding photography,gladstone QLD

I liked this shot of Selena looking down.  We had an overcast day yesterday, and it worked very nicely for this shot.

kellie blinco photography,wedding photography,gladstone QLD

And the all important bridal party!

kellie blinco photography,wedding photography,gladstone QLD

Im calling this one my favourite of the day.  It has such a retro feel about it... Im pretty much in love with it.  The cars, the location, the posing, the light and the expression are all working here for me.

kellie blinco photography,wedding photography,gladstone QLD

Seeing as though, we were at the Marina, we ventured down to the boats. It was so very easy working with these two!

kellie blinco photography,wedding photography,gladstone QLD

Another one from the post photography that I was really drawn to.  The veil over the heads always looks fabulous. It is probably a very popular "to get" shot, but, it looks so soft and romantic.

kellie blinco photography,wedding photography,gladstone QLD

As you are all fully aware, I hate using my flash.. hate it. But, sometimes it needs to be done to capture the feeling of a beautiful day ;)

kellie blinco photography,wedding photography,gladstone QLD

Ian and Selena had a wonderfully beautiful reception at Rydges.  LOVE their little candy lollies with their names... sweet.

kellie blinco photography,wedding photography,gladstone QLD

I hope you both enjoyed the remained of your night! Thank you again for having me there, it was a fantastic day and I look fowards to creating your album!

Thats all the wedding craziness done from me for today! Sam and Robyn were also on a wedding yesterday, so keep an eye out for their posts soon.  I will have some more wedding piccies to share with you on Friday and probably a few more things in between now and then!

Jody & Scott: I Do's in Monochrome
Posted : 29/08/2010 02:41:46

When Jody saw me only a few months ago about doing a sunrise wedding for her, I thought, how fantastic.  Saturday morning was our wedding season opening day here at KBP, you have probably been reading about it the hype through our blog posts in the last few weeks.  Now I have mentioned before, and I am not ashamed to admit, I am not a monring person.  and not a winter person.  So it shocked the hell out of me to get up at 5am in chilly weather.  It really did.

Anyway, I made it to Spinnaker Park at 6am, as promised, and as warned, probably looked like death.  My little frozen fingers were tapping away on the shutter button though so thats all that matters!!  Jody and Scott have eight lovely children present on the day, who were all equally as cold as me!

Jody and Scott expressed to me how much they love monochrome images.  So its been a while, but all the images in the post apart from one uber colourful one, are monochromatic.  Now doing this post made me rekindle a love for mono -  how wonderfully raw and emotive these images are.  Colour can be distracting.  Colour can also be wonderfully pleasing to the eye, but, important images are not about vivid colour... really are they?  Nope.  Its about the emotion.  I do believe the most powerful emotive images you see are mono (sorry - random photographer pondering)

Anyway, Shall I start with the colourful Sunrise?

kellie blinco photography,wedding

Lovely morning.  No skill required to capture this shot. I swear, I dont see many sunrises, but, it is such a nice sight.  I think I said it after I did some Heron Sunrise shots last time I was over there.... but I'd love to see more.  But clearly, I need to be forced out of bed for a job to do so.

Okay moving on to Jody and Scott

kellie blinco photography,wedding

This image was taken before that lovely sun showed it's face.  Scott and the kids starting to get ready for the mornings magic.  All the kids were rugged up in their jumpers until Jody arrived.

kellie blinco photography,wedding

Jody arrived a little after 6.30am - and she really looked simply beautiful and radiant.  How can anyone look so fabulous at this hour??  Great job Jody!

kellie blinco photography,wedding

I really loved this image of Jody walking towards Scott. Intimate weddings are always so wonderful to be apart of.

kellie blinco photography,wedding

I was really drawn to this one too. The gorgeous flare even looks fab in mono.  Here we have, Chantal, bringing the rings to celebrant, Judy Whicker. And we have Jody's beautiful smile in there also

kellie blinco photography,wedding

Scott placing the ring on Jody's finger.

kellie blinco photography,wedding

Oh the first married kiss. This was the very first wedding I had to put the camera down to attend to more important business for my couple - felt strange! I was a little unimpressed that being a witness meant I had to tell me entire long winded name.... thanks Mum and Dad.

kellie blinco photography,wedding

The newly wed couple

kellie blinco photography,wedding

The both of them had a fabulous morning and as you can see, the small and intimate wedding was filled with love.

My short time with this family went incredibly quickly, we got some wonderful images of the ceremony and moved on to some portraiture of all the kids and of Scott and Jody.

Thanks Jody and Scott for asking me along - it was a pleasure.

Now after this wedding, I went home and had a nanna nap - sad yes - but I had to to be nice and refreshed for wedding two of the day!
